Carrie Anne Fleming Death: Supernatural and iZombie Star Was Only 51

  • Carrie Anne Fleming, the Canadian actress beloved for her roles in Supernatural and iZombie, passed away on February 26 in Sidney, British Columbia
  • Her death was confirmed by her Supernatural co-star Jim Beaver, who revealed she died of breast cancer complications
  • She is survived by her daughter, Madalyn Rose, whom she shared with ex-husband Ronald James McConaghy

The TV world is grieving. Carrie Anne Fleming, the quietly magnetic actress who spent three decades breathing life into some of genre television’s most memorable characters, is gone. She was just 51.

Variety confirmed the news of her passing on March 22, revealing that the Canadian actress had died last month in Sidney, British Columbia, following complications related to breast cancer. The confirmation came from someone who knew her better than most.

The Co-Star Who Broke the News

It was her Supernatural co-star Jim Beaver who confirmed Fleming’s passing, and his words made it clear this was so much more than losing a colleague.

Beaver, who played Bobby Singer on the long-running series, took to Facebook with a tribute that left fans in awe. “To find a soul mate once in life and lose her is unmitigated pain. To find one twice and lose them both is something that words cannot shape,” he wrote.

He went on to describe how their connection sparked almost instantly on set. “Carrie Anne Fleming was cast as my wife on Supernatural in my fifth season on the show. I fell for her hard, and I did it mere seconds after meeting her.” For fans of the show, the chemistry between Karen and Bobby Singer always felt real. Now they know why.

Beaver had previously lost his first great love, Cecily, to cancer in 2004. His tribute ended with words that were almost too painful to read: “I lost Cecily to cancer in 2004. Thursday, I lost Carrie to the same disease. I never thought my heart could break so badly more than once.”

A Career That Deserved More Recognition

Fleming enjoyed three decades of on-screen appearances, with one of her first being an uncredited role in Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore. Not a bad place to start.

From there, she quietly built a resume that any genre fan would recognise instantly. Her TV credits included Supergirl, UnREAL, Motive, Continuum, The L Word, Smallville, and Masters of Horror. She wasn’t just a familiar face, she was a reliable one. The kind of actress that elevated every scene she walked into.

Most recently, she had a recurring role for five seasons as Candy Baker on the CW’s iZombie, and also appeared in the 2015 TV film The Unauthorized Full House Story, playing the mother of Full House star Candace Cameron Bure.

The Fans Said It Best

Social media filled up fast once the news broke, and the tributes were genuinely moving.

“Carrie Anne Fleming gone at 51 is heavy. iZombie and Supernatural, she was part of shows that mattered. RIP to a real one. She had talent and those characters stuck with people. That’s the impact she leaves,” wrote one fan.

Another added, “I’ll always remember Carrie Anne Fleming as the titular Jenifer in that episode of Masters of Horror. Sad to hear of her passing. 2026 has been awful for sad goodbyes.”

Hard to argue with that.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. For now, the industry is pausing to honour a woman who gave so much of herself to stories that mattered deeply to the people who watched them.

She deserved more time. She always did.
