Imperfect Women Cast: Every Star in Apple TV's Addictive New Thriller You Need to Know

  • Imperfect Women premiered on Apple TV on March 18, 2026, with an A-list cast led by Elisabeth Moss, Kerry Washington, and Kate Mara in what critics are already calling one of the most compelling thrillers of the year
  • The show is based on Araminta Hall’s 2020 novel of the same name and follows three lifelong friends whose decades-long bond completely unravels after one of them turns up dead
  • The series currently holds a 47% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics — but audience reactions have been a completely different story, with fans already obsessing over every episode

Apple TV just dropped its most talked-about show of 2026, and the Imperfect Women cast alone is enough to make you clear your entire Wednesday night schedule. Three powerhouse actresses. A murder. A friendship with secrets buried so deep they were never supposed to see daylight. And an eight-episode limited series that is already doing exactly what it set out to do — make you trust nobody.

The Three Women at the Center of Everything

This show lives or dies on its three leads, and Apple TV went and assembled a murderers’ row of talent to pull it off.

Kerry Washington stars as Eleanor, one of the three friends impacted by the loss of Nancy. Beneath her polished exterior and successful non-profit career, Eleanor is hiding a complicated affair with one of her own employees. Washington — best known for Scandal and Little Fires Everywhere — is doing some of her most layered work here, and it shows in every single scene.

Elisabeth Moss plays Mary, the most naive of the trio, a stay-at-home mom in a financially strained marriage to professor Howard, raising three children, and largely oblivious to the chaos unfolding around her. Moss is also an executive producer on the series — so this project is deeply personal to her in a way that comes through on screen.

Kate Mara plays Nancy, the third woman in the group — a rags-to-riches story who married wealthy businessman Robert Hennessy, but who has been haunted her entire life by a difficult childhood. Nancy is the one who ends up dead. And everything about how she got there is the entire point of the show.

The Men in the Picture and What They Are Hiding

The women are the heart of it, but the men are where the real suspicion lives.

Joel Kinnaman plays Robert, Nancy’s grieving husband and the primary suspect in her murder investigation. Kinnaman — known for The Killing and Altered Carbon — brings a cold, controlled energy to the role that makes it genuinely impossible to read him.

Corey Stoll is Howard, Mary’s professor husband, quietly drowning in financial trouble. Rome Flynn steps in as Jordan, a young man entangled in an extramarital affair. And Ana Ortiz plays Detective Bethany Ganz, the investigator slowly pulling every dark thread until something finally snaps.

Leslie Odom Jr. rounds out the main ensemble as Donovan, in a recurring role that was added as recently as June 2025 — which tells you everything about how much this story evolved during production.

What the Show Is Actually About

The series opens with Eleanor being summoned by the police to identify the body of her best friend, Nancy. With little evidence to go on, the detective asks Eleanor to reflect on the last time she saw her — and in a flashback just eleven hours before her death, the three women are shown at dinner celebrating Mary’s birthday, with Nancy’s phone buzzing nonstop from a mystery man threatening her over an affair she was desperately trying to end.

As the investigation unfolds, so does the truth about how even the closest friendships may not be what they seem — guilt, betrayal, compromises made in secret, and the kind of lies that only come out when someone ends up dead.

The first two episodes are available right now on Apple TV, with new episodes dropping every Wednesday for the remainder of the eight-episode run. Clear your schedule.
