If you watched Nick Viall fumble his way through two seasons of The Bachelorette, get rejected twice, lead his own Bachelor season, and somehow still leave empty-handed, you probably wrote him off as television’s most lovable loser. And then he went and did something nobody expected. He slid into nobody’s DMs. Somebody slid into his. And that somebody turned out to be the woman he would eventually marry on a sprawling Georgia farm while holding a two-month-old baby.
Nick Viall’s love story is genuinely one of the more surprising ones to come out of Bachelor Nation. And his wife, Natalie Joy, is a lot more interesting than most people give her credit for.
Who Is Nick Viall and What Is His Bachelor History?
For anyone who needs the full recap before getting to the good stuff, here it is.
Nick Viall is a longtime Bachelor Nation star who first appeared on Andi Dorfman’s season of The Bachelorette, where he earned the first impression rose and made it to the final two before Andi chose Josh Murray over him. He came back a second time for Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season, made it to the final two again, and was sent home again. The man was practically making a career out of heartbreak.
Nick then appeared on Bachelor in Paradise before eventually being handed his own season of The Bachelor, where he dated 30 different women in his quest to find love. He got engaged to Vanessa Grimaldi at the end of that season, but the relationship ended before it ever really began.
Today, Nick is 45 years old, hosts the wildly popular relationship podcast The Viall Files, and is very much not single. Not even a little bit.
How Did Nick Viall Meet His Wife Natalie Joy?
This is the part of the story that genuinely nobody saw coming.
Natalie Joy slid into Nick’s Instagram DMs in September 2019 with just two words: “You’re unreal.” She later admitted that if she had known he would actually become her husband and the father of her children, she probably would have put more thought into it and been funnier or wittier. Somehow, two words were all it took.

They began dating in July 2020 and soft-launched their relationship on social media in October 2020 when they posted pool snapshots from the same location. They did not go fully Instagram official until January 2021.
Nick told host Alex Cooper on Call Her Daddy that the nearly 20-year age gap between them was actually a source of real anxiety for him early on. “At first, it was something I was having a lot of anxiety about,” he said. But the more he got to know Natalie, the more he felt they were simply on the same wavelength. “I always felt like she was my equal,” he said. Natalie put it simply when she said they were on the same stages of life and ready for the same things, regardless of what their birth certificates said.
He proposed in January 2023, and the relationship that started with two words in a DM was very quickly becoming something permanent.
Natalie Joy’s Age, Background and the Life She Built Before Nick
Natalie Joy Viall is 26 years old as of March 2026, making the age difference between her and Nick 19 years. But her life story is more layered than most people realise.
Natalie dropped out of high school at 15 to pursue a modelling career, but later returned and went on to earn a college degree in surgical technology from Savannah Technical College. She then worked as a certified surgical technologist for a reconstructive surgeon at the Georgia Institute for Plastic Surgery, which is about as far from reality television as it gets.
Today, she is an internet personality best known as a regular co-host on The Viall Files alongside her husband, and has built a significant following on Instagram where she shares updates on their relationship, family and daily life. The girl who sent two words into a stranger’s DMs now co-hosts a Netflix show with him. The internet is truly something.
Nick Viall’s Daughter, the Georgia Wedding and the Twins on the Way
Natalie and Nick welcomed their daughter River Rose Viall on February 2, 2024, named after Natalie’s great-grandmother and niece. The couple introduced her to the world with the caption “the best part of life starts now.”
Just two months after River Rose arrived, the couple married on April 27, 2024, on Natalie’s family’s 300-acre farm outside Savannah, Georgia. Guests arrived via vintage trolley buses offering scenic views and champagne, and the welcome party had a full country-chic theme complete with cowboy hats, boots, and a mechanical bull. Nick posted afterwards that Natalie’s vision for every moment of the wedding exceeded his wildest expectations and that it turned out to be the wedding of his dreams, too.

Then came the heartbreak. In 2025, Natalie experienced three miscarriages. Nick revealed the third loss to his podcast audience, saying plainly that it just truly sucked, and Natalie posted on Instagram that she was working closely with her doctors to understand what was happening and to prevent experiencing that heartbreak a fourth time.
And then came the news that made everything feel worth it. In February 2026, the couple announced that Natalie is pregnant with twin girls. River Rose is about to become a big sister twice over.
Age of Attraction and the Age Gap Conversation That Will Not Go Away
Nick and Natalie are currently co-hosting Netflix’s new dating experiment, Age of Attraction, which premiered on March 11, 2026. The show features singles ranging from 22 to 60 years old searching for love without knowing their match’s age, with Nick and Natalie guiding them through the process as a real-life age-gap couple themselves.
On a recent episode of The Viall Files, Nick quipped that “age gaps are in,” while guest Victoria Fuller called large age differences disgusting and said it made her want to throw up. Natalie responded by joking that Victoria was not comfortable saying it at their wedding, but their age gap was disgusting. Somehow, they managed to laugh about the whole thing.
The criticism has never fully gone away, and they have never pretended otherwise. But two DM words, one farm wedding, one daughter, three painful losses, and twin girls on the way later, it is very hard to argue with what Nick Viall and Natalie Joy have actually built together.
