- ENHYPEN will now continue promoting as a six-member group
Nobody saw this coming. Fans of ENHYPEN were left completely stunned after news broke that Heeseung would be leaving the group to pursue a solo career. And just like that, one of K-pop’s most beloved groups, as fans knew it, is no more.
On March 10, BELIFT LAB dropped the announcement that sent shockwaves through the entire K-pop community, confirming that Heeseung would be parting ways with ENHYPEN, and that the group would continue official activities as a six-member act going forward. No warning. No build-up. Just a statement that changed everything.
Why Is Heeseung Really Leaving?
According to the label, this wasn’t a dramatic fallout or a contract dispute. BELIFT LAB said the decision came after deep conversations with each member about their vision for the future and the team’s direction, and it became clear that Heeseung had a distinct musical path he wished to pursue.
According to Heeseung himself, the decision followed extensive conversations with his company about how best to present the music he had been working on, and after thinking deeply for a long time, he decided to follow the direction suggested by the company so that he could approach fans with a better side of himself. Whether you read that as empowering or heartbreaking probably depends on how long you’ve been an ENGENE.
His exit marks the first lineup change for the group since its debut back in November 2020. That fact alone is hitting fans hard right now.
The Letter That Made Everyone Cry
Right after the announcement dropped, Heeseung took to Weverse to share a handwritten letter, telling fans that the six years he spent with ENHYPEN were filled with moments so overwhelming and precious that they were hard to fully put into words.
He thanked the members he shared countless emotions with, and ENGENE, who he said always filled every space with their support, adding that he was working hard on an album so he could meet fans again soon, and that he would move forward with the love from ENGENE always in his heart.
There is genuinely not a dry eye on stan Twitter right now.
What Happens to ENHYPEN Now?
The group will continue as a six-member outfit, consisting of Jungwon, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-ki. And the timing makes it even more of a gut punch. The announcement came shortly after ENHYPEN released their seventh mini-album “The Sin: Vanish” in January, and just last month, the group attended the 2026 D Awards, where they took home the grand prize for Artist of the Year along with Best Tour for their Walk the Line world tour. Everything seemed to be going perfectly. And then this.
Heeseung will remain signed to BELIFT LAB and is currently preparing a solo album, though no additional details about the project have been announced yet. One chapter closes, another one opens. Whether ENGENE is ready for it or not.
